Sikandar Raza is our Lionel Messi: Zimbabwe’s barmy army

Sikandar Raza, a Pakistani-born Zimbabwean international cricketer, has been in the spotlight in recent days. He has helped Zimbabwe on the path to another global tournament by becoming the fastest Zimbabwean to score 4000 ODI runs in cricket.

He became an important person in the ICC World Cup qualifiers. He set a massive record for Zimbabwe in ODI cricket, which have struggled in recent years.

Zimbabwe’s barmy army has hailed Sikandar Raza for his performance. Fans and red army have compared Sikandar Raza with Lionel Messi, a famous Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for and captains the Argentina national team.

While cheering for the cricketer, fans said, “Raza is our Messi.” They also called him “world-class all-rounder.” Netizens on Twitter lauded Sikandar Raza for his talent.

Meanwhile, Sean Williams, a Zimbabwean international cricketer captains the national team in Test cricket, helped the team to move closer to world cup qualification. A massive century from Williams helped the Zimbabwe team to a 14-run victory over Oman in the Super Six stage of the ICC (International Cricket Council) World Cup Qualifier.

Zimbabwe won four out of four matches in the group stages. The team is now up to six points in the Super Six.
