Spanish league’s joint venture in Middle East, North Africa and India

The Spanish league will continue its quest to expand abroad and catch up to the Premier League on Tuesday by announcing a new joint venture to increase its presence in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Indian subcontinent.

A source close to the accord told The Associated Press that the contract, which is anticipated to generate 3 billion euros ($2.9 billion) in income, will be comparable to what the league negotiated with entertainment company Relevent Sports to help promote soccer and the league in North America.

The person told the AP on condition of anonymity because the agreement has not yet been made public that the Spanish league will share equally in the 15-year joint venture with international esports and gaming company Galaxy Racer, which has experience in the area.

In this “important section of the world,” the league seeks to considerably expand the visibility of its clubs and Spanish soccer. In a region with 1.3 billion individuals under the age of 30, the objective is to target younger consumers.

Regular-season games will be played in the United States, according to the 15-year agreement signed in 2018 with Relevent, which was co-founded by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross. However, the league has yet to implement this due to issues involving some clubs and the Spanish soccer federation.
