Sports: Hunt’s first words as Kaizer Chiefs

Gavin Hunt has spoken for the first time as the new Kaizer Chiefs coach, outlining his plans as his takes on one of the toughest jobs in the country.

The four-time league prevailing mentor was appointed through Amakhosi ultimate week on a three-year contract, and with his glittering CV, the expectations are no doubt very high, specifically with the membership not having received a trophy in 5 years.

“Hopefully we can make it an fun continue to be and win some trophies. The ultimate few years have been a little bit barren, and with a bit of luck we can flip that around,” stated Hunt, talking in a video insert put together by way of the club.  

“I apprehend the pressures of getting results due to the fact I have been doing it for a long time. Obviously this is totally different, we were always the ones trying to quieten the supporters and now we have to liven them up – it won’t be easy. The preceding regime did clearly well, and now hopefully we can go one better and strive enhance on the results.

Hunt, 56, takes over from Ernst Middendorp, who used to be close to ending the silverware drought until Chiefs have been pipped to the Absa Premiership winners’ podium via Mamelodi Sundowns on the last day of the 2019/20 season two weeks ago.
