Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi suffer Premier League promotion setback after West Brom loses 1-0 against Brentford in the Sky Bet Championship encounter at Griffin Park.

The 26-year-old Nigeria international was handed a starting role in the match in his 37th league appearance as he was pair with Egyptian center-back Ahmed Hegazy in central defence.

Ollie Watkins scored the only goal in the 16th minute to help Brentford to claim the three-point as West Brom are winless in back-to-back games since football returned in England.

The Baggies temporarily remain top on 71 points same points as second-placed Leeds, who could claim number one spot if they beat visiting Fulham on Saturday.
