The USA is working tirelessly at the international, national and domestic level to prevent the spread of terrorism, nuclear war and violent extremism in Mozambique. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who is a U.S Ambassador to the UN mentioned that the US is taking measures for the benefit of civil society impacting civilians from terror attacks and conflict between Mozambique and the Ansar al-Sunna extremist group.

Responding to violent actions noted in Mozambique, Thomas-Greenfield stated the central government is trying to reach isolated and indigenous communities so that they feel attended and connected with the government. This is an important step to do as most of these far-flung communities are mostly attacked by terrorist organizations.

An announcement was made on Monday by both the USA and the Government of Mozambique that The United States government will deploy its Special Operations Forces to train Mozambican marines for two months as part of renewed support for Maputo’s efforts. The programme will be known as the Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) training programme.

Along with the US, Portugal also agreed to send 60 more soldiers to Mozambique as part of a new cooperation agreement aimed at helping the insurgency. João Cravinho, Defense Minister of Portuguese said the cooperation agreement between Lisbon and Maputo with his African counterpart Jaime Neto has been signed. Sensing the gravity of the situation, France, has also displayed complete willingness to extend the necessary services for Mozambique to fight against terrorism. The countries combined to defeat Islamist terrorism and will continue to intervene till the time Mozambican government permits. All the officials and authorities express solidarity and show admiration for the efforts the country is making to restore security.

Revealing the truth, the Mozambique government mentioned, ISIS-Mozambique and ISIS-DRC are Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGs) and their leaders, Abu Yasir Hassan and Seka Musa Baluku, are prime terror merchants. Since 2017, Abu Yasir Hassan has been linked to the killing of more than 1,300 civilians worldwide.
