Chinese smartphone and electronics company Xiaomi has revealed the launch date for the Xiaomi 12 in South Africa. The company is finally bringing the Xiaomi 12 from the company’s latest flagship range on 8 July 2022.
Xiaomi 12 is one of the first mobile devices to feature the potent Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. The company boasts an extremely powerful camera setup and a competitive long-lasting and super-fast charging battery.
Xiaomi phone often gives special attention to the camera. Xiaomi 12 is getting a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide, and a 5MP telephoto. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset allows up to 8K HDR video recording at 24fps, 4K HDR10+ at 30 and 60fps, and two super slow-mo options.
The smartphone runs on Android 12 OS as well as the MIUI 13 shell. Additional specifications include a 120Hz AMOLED display capable of HDR10+ as well as an Octa-core CPU and an Adreno 730 GPU. The phone also features a 6.28-inch display, with a 1,080 x 2,400 resolution. It offers a 67W charge speed for the 4,500mAh battery.
In terms of memory, the Xiaomi 12 comes in three different modules:
Internationally, the smartphone comes in four different colours: Grey, Blue, Purple andGreen. According to media reports, this may be different for the South African launch.
Internationally, this device is priced in the $600-$650 range, which means between R10,000 – R11,000 roughly. It can be a great deal for South Africans.

The Xiaomi team reportedly told IT News Africa that the phone offers extremely competitive features. The team further said, “ The market is now eagerly waiting for the premium smartphone to arrive in their stores.”
