Uganda are set to face sanctions from the US government over the recent killings of protestors by the army and police chief.
November, one of the competitors – Bobi Wine was captured and charged for challenging COVID-19 guidelines overseeing mass social occasions.
Scores of individuals were slaughtered and hundreds more harmed as police and the military battled to control the fights that followed Wine’s capture.
“The United States is a longstanding accomplice of Uganda. We anticipate that our accomplices should satisfy their commitments to hold free and reasonable races. We are giving close consideration to the activities of people who try to block the continuous vote based cycle,”
This is coming ahead of the forthcoming presidential election in the country, that sees incumbent president Yoweri Museveni face off with opposition leader and activist, Bobi Wine.
