Kaizer Chiefs have won a single trophy since 2015, but still they are considered as one of the top teams in South African football, as they have won 55 trophies in the past years.
However, Mamelodi Sundowns have won eight of the last ten DStv Premiership titles, including 6 consistent wins, in recent years. The last team to win the league was Bidvest Wits in 2017.
But this time Sundowns are aiming again for the continental crown, so that they can become the champions of Africa again. Last time, they achieved this in 2016.
On the other hand, Orlando Pirates are also aiming for the crown. They are trying to challenge the dominance of Sundowns and win a strong title challenge.
In the past years, they won 2 domestic cup crowns in 2022-23. They had won their last PSL crown in 2012, thus their fans are not that much satisfied with them.
Mahlatsi Mahlatsi had joined the Kaizer Chiefs team at the starting season of 2022-23, but made 7 appearances only. Thus Kaizer Chiefs has decided to release Mahlatsi.
The Kaizer Chiefs’ Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr said that they have released Mahlatsi to play elsewhere where he can play more times. Mahlatsi is not a part of Kaizer Chiefs anymore.
The team of Kaizer Chiefs is also engaged in Stellenbosch midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa actively. Mthethwa is seen as a good fit for the club to strengthen its position.

However, Stellenbosch FC is still hesitant to release the sportsperson, despite Chiefs having made a formal approach.
They know the value of Mthethwa’s talent. Mthethwa is considered as a specialist number 6 who can break up attacks and can also distribute the ball effectively.
Kaizer Chiefs have a rich history with 55 trophies, which makes them one of the the respected teams. But, they could earn another trophy after 2015, which is a major concern for them.
They will have to regain their winning attitude and strengthen their team again. The time will determine whether the decision of releasing Kamohelo Mahlatsi was good or not. The Kaizer Chiefs should keep hustling to keep honoring their legacy.
