Li Xi, a senior Chinese official arrived in the Kenyan capital Monday for bilateral negotiations.William Ruto the Kenyan President was among the authorities that greeted him at NairobiState House.William Ruto promised to improve relations between the two countries throughout thenegotiations. He said, “Kenya, I want to assure you, is committed to promoting this partnershipacross Africa and also upholding the ‘One China’ policy.”The two countries are working together on national development projects as part of their strategicrelationship.Additionally, Ruto has requested China’s support for Kenya’s wishes to join the BRICS group ofdeveloping nations. BRICS members currently account for around 28% of the world GDP.When the group was established in 2006, Brazil, Russia, India and China were among itsmembers. South Africa joined in 2010, before that a number of other nations including Egypt andEthiopia joined BRICS.
