Michael Olunga scored a brace in Kenya 3-2 win over Tanzania in their second game of the ongoing AFCON tournament in Egypt on Thursday evening as Harambee Stars fight back to earn the three points in a five-goal thriller
Tanzania got the first opportunity to break the deadlock but his effort went wide, ut Kenya got punished after Samantha fired a shot that was too hot for Kenyan keeper to handle as Saimon Msuva went for a rebound to tidy it up inside the sixth minute.
Tanzania keeper suffered a knock but he shook it off to continue, Kenya almost got the equaliser but their attempt was directed straight to the Tanzania goalkeeper’s hand.
Kenya was denied by the woodwork on two successive occasions from a corner kick. Johana Omlolo was shown a yellow card for a rough tackle on a Tanzania star.
Kenya made the first change of the game as John Avire was thrown in to replace Francis Kehata with 11 minutes left.
Tanzania almost scored from a dead ball situation but Kenya goalkeeper was alert to sense the danger. Kenya equalised from a freekick via Olunga after Tanzania goalkeeper failed to deal with a cross delivered into the box in the 39th minute.
Samatta Mbwana of Tanzania did take too long to restore the lead in the 40th minute.
The first half ended in favour of Tanzania with a 2-1.
The second half started with much intensity from both teams with Kenya seriously in the hunt for the equaliser in the opening minute of the second half.
Wanyama almost got the equaliser but his attempt was saved off the line by Tanzania goalkeeper and in the 62nd minute Omolo got the equaliser for the Harambee Stars through a powerful header.
Tanzania and Kenya put up a brilliant show in the second half.
Kenya stunned Tanzania after they broke off from the midfield and a well-timed shot from Olunga beat the Tanzania goalkeeper to put Kenya in front for the first time in this clash.
Up next for Tanzania is the final group game clash against group leaders Algeria while Kenya will tackle Senegal in their group game.
