Business leaders from South Africa, Europe to unite

The 9th “Southern Africa Europe CEO Dialogue” will bring together some of Africa’s and Europe’s top business figures in Johannesburg in November to discuss strategic economic links and look into collaborative investment potential in priority sectors.

The European House – Ambrosetti (the top private think tank in Italy, fourth in Europe, and among the top 20 globally) founded and organised the event, which will take place in Johannesburg, in cooperation with the Gauteng Province, the GGDA, and a number of international public and private stakeholders, including DHL, Aspen, Sisal, the Rome Expo 2030 Nomination Committee, the Development Bank of Southern Africa, Qatar Airways, the Italian Trade Agency, Finstone, and CLN-M.

This year’s list of confirmed participants also includes 150 CEOs, as well as Enoch Godongwana, the South African Minister of Finance; Gwede Mantashe, the South African Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources; David Makhura, the Premier of Gauteng; Popo Molefe, the Chairman of Transnet; Precious Moloi-Motsepe, the CEO of Africa Fashion International; Wamkele Mene, the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade.

According to Pietro Mininni, Head of African Affairs at The European House – Ambrosetti, European businesses are now more devoted than ever to fostering the expansion of their operations in Africa and assisting the continent’s economic development.

“Africa is at the centre of this shift amid a period of significant socio-economic change and unanticipated difficulties including the ongoing oil crisis, rising inflation, and disruption in the global supply chain. As the 6th AU-EU Summit in Brussels in February of last year showed, Europe wants to have a significant presence on the continent and looks forward to developing a thorough and lasting collaboration with its African counterparts. Our CEO Dialogue has always been an exclusive forum at the service of businesses and institutions, with the objective of creating a network of leaders for the development of their respective nations and continents.”

The Summit comes after a high-level business visit that The European House – Ambrosetti organised in Maputo in August with H.E. Filipe Nyusi, President of Mozambique, in attendance. The event, in which 30 firms participated, was a part of the CEO Community-African Chapter’s activities. This club of top business executives integrates and enhances the outcomes of the yearly conference.
