CBN Exchange Rate Watch: Naira Holds Ground Against Major Currencies Amid Mixed Market Movement

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released its updated exchange rates for Tuesday, August 26, 2025, revealing a day of mixed performance for the Naira (₦) across major global and regional currencies. While the local currency showed modest resilience against the US Dollar (USD), it recorded slight declines against other heavyweights like the Euro (EUR) and British Pound (GBP).

In the latest update, the Naira appreciated slightly against the USD, gaining 0.08% to settle at ₦1,537.62 (sell rate) and ₦1,536.62 (buy rate). However, the Euro saw a 0.25% drop, and the British Pound followed with a 0.07% decline in value relative to the Naira.

Among regional currencies, the West African CFA Franc (XOF) stood out with a notable 0.86% gain, making it the top rising currency of the day. On the other hand, the West African Unit of Account (WAUA) saw the largest fall, declining by 0.27%.
