In a strategic decision, commit buys Savannah, which emphasizes the increased needs in skilled software developers in the world, and the increased significance of the African continent as a source of talents. The acquisition of Savannah by commit is to diversify its talent sourcing strategy because the traditional markets of outsourcing are becoming expensive and crowded. Through this acquisition, Commit gets Savannah to officially enter the software ecosystem of Africa and have access to experience and English-speaking developers in key markets. At a time when both startups and businesses are being forced to grow development teams in the most expeditious timeframe, commit acquires Savannah and does not sacrifice quality. The acquisition is an indicator of trust of the developer community in Africa and strengthens the value chain to the rest of the world in terms of technology.
Expanding into Africa’s Developer Ecosystem
According to sources close to the deal, commit gains Savannah, in a deal that was all-cash and was estimated to cost several million dollars to acquire. Savannah was started in 2022 and has self-funded its expansion and hired more than 100 developers that it deploys to international companies like Firefly, Aqua Security, and Bright Data. After the acquisition, the founder and team of Savannah will remain in the offshore segment of the operations of Commit. As a way to build its presence outside of Eastern Europe, commit acquires Savannah to target such countries as Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya that have a strong talent pool and are developing faster and smarter AI-related skills.
