County College of Morris Launches $26.8M Career Training Center to Empower Future Workforce

On May 30, the grand opening of the $26.8 million Morris County Career Training Center at the campus of the County College of Morris (CCM) in Randolph, New Jersey, marked a major achievement for Morris County’s schools. After a decade of preparation, this leading facility was launched to allow students in college as well as high school to get valuable experience in healthcare, business and technology careers. Funded through state and county money, the center brings together efforts to ready students for the jobs of the future, blending learning from books with real experience.

A Decade-Long Dream Realized

County commissioners, CCM President Anthony Iacono and MCST joined efforts to build the new training center which was made possible by their shared vision. Once all the planning was completed, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held and students, teachers and public authorities were present to celebrate. The project counts on $18.6 million provided by New Jersey’s Securing Our Children’s Future Bond Act and $8.2 million from Morris County, demonstrating how the community contributes to supporting schools. Iacono, who worked at a Florida college with similar programs, says that this center is special because it connects both high school and college technical education.

Training Today for Tomorrow’s Careers

Because the Morris County Career Training Center sits next to the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center and future Entrepreneurship and Culinary Science Center at CCM, it forms a powerful educational center. Programs will focus on key fields including healthcare (EMT and dental assistants), business (with a focus on being an entrepreneur and supply-chain), electronics (working with robotics and renewable energy) and IT (AI and network administration). Classes are open to anyone from CCM or high school at MCST and provide both paid certificates and internships. According to officials, the center is not just a place, it’s a first step toward preparing students for the future and giving New Jersey schools an example to follow.
