German foreign minister Annalena Baerbock is in talks to finalize the declaration on the relationship between Berlin and Rabat. With this document, the diplomatic ties between Rabat and Berlin will be on paper amid the widening difference of opinions between the two sides.
Morocco was the owner to take the step first when it came to suspending diplomatic ties with Germany. The nation decided to all contact the German embassy in the capital city which was followed by its decision to recall its ambassador from Germany.
According to Rabat, Germany has been constantly neglecting the needs of Morocco and undermining its interests especially when things concern the Western Sahara region. After these allegations, Germany is attempting damage control and is trying to make peace with the North African nation.
Last week, the embassy of the European nation in Rabat said that whatever is information being passed on regarding the tension between the two nations is entirely false. It further stressed that contrary to what is being protracted, Berlin considered Morocco as its very essential ally. “The Kingdom of Morocco is a pivotal partner for Germany. From the federal government’s point of view, it is in the interests of both countries to return to the traditionally good and expanded diplomatic relations,” the embassy said.
