Former Cricket South Africa (CSA) CEO Haroon Lorgat “could no longer believe” his ears when it used to be announced three years ago that the T20 Global League had collapsed.
Lorgat used to be disappointed when the ambitious league supposed to rival the lucrative Indian Premier Leaguewas terminated and he told TimesLIVE that an independent forensic investigation is necessary to discover what led to the match being deserted in September 2017.
“
Lorgat “amicably” parted ways with CSA after a breakdown of have faith between him and the board overhow he allegedly ran the employer of the T20 league except the oversight of the board.
There’s documentary proof to that effect. In reality Mr Moroe, (chairman of the GLT20 board) Mr Nenzani, Mr von Zeuner and Mr Khan all served on a sub-committee into which I mentioned regularly.
“As for the T20 Global League, I would be pleased to see an independent inquiry,” said Lorgat.
Media pronouncements made by way of the Hong Kong-based owners of the Bloemfontein franchise stated they had alone committed a $100m investment into South African cricket.
Approached for comment, CSA instructed TimesLIVE in a assertion to direct questions at Lorgat.
“It is up to Mr. Lorgat whether or not he desires to reply to the allegations/questions you have put that subject or affect him.”
