South Africa – South Africa is under the radar of many countries after the latest variant, Omicron, was found first in the nation.

Due to this, it is dealing with huge losses both financially and politically and hence the administration has decided to work on curbs that need to be imposed in order to end the virus spread.

The South African president Cyril Ramaphosa has inaugurated a new vaccine manufacturing facility which will supposedly result in boosting the country’s capacity to produce more vaccines for diseases including Covid-19.

The facility is located in Cape Town and was launched by the founder of NantWorks, Patrick Soon-Shiong. He is the owner of a huge biotechnology firm which is based in the United States and till now he has invested about $200 million in this particular facility.

The president announced the inauguration on Wednesday saying, “The pandemic has revealed the huge disparities that exist within and between countries in access to quality healthcare, medicines, diagnostics and vaccines.” The vaccine manufacturing unit will have a capacity of producing 220 million vaccines each year and it will be selling them in South Africa and to other African countries.
