The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated today on Friday, 9 May 2025 of the announcement for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Over 1.5 million candidates faced the UTME exam across Nigeria, seeking admission into universities, polytechnics and colleges of education just this year.
But the results of candidates in this year’s examination are arguably the worst recorded in recent years. Within JAMB’s Report, we only have 4,756 candidates who scored 320 and above and 12,414 candidates who scored 300 and above.
Unfortunately, more than half of all candidates scored below 200, representing a serious drop in overall performance. This decline has contributed to renewed discussions about education quality in the country and the strength of preparatory methods.
How Can You Check Your JAMB Result via SMS?
- Type “RESULT” and send it to 55019 or 66019 from your phone number that you used during registration.
- Make sure that at least you have at least ₦50 airtime on your line.
- Finally, you will receive a message containing your score details.
This method does not require internet access or visiting a CBT center or cybercafé.
How Can You Check Your Result on the JAMB Portal?
- Visit the official JAMB result portal — www.jamb.gov.ng
- Then enter your registration number or the phone number that you used during the registration.
- After the page gets loaded, click “Check My Result.”
- Your result will be displayed instantly. You can screenshot it or print it.
For those with pending or withheld results, messages like “under processing” or “under investigation” will appear.
