Friday in Baku, the Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, and the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, spoke on ways to strengthen the bilateral ties between their respective nations.
The two ministers met in a private context during the official visit, then had a more large meeting including officials from both nations. The conversations focused on the creation of a shared mechanism in order to improve cooperation and forward mutual objectives. These dialogues addressed several regional and global issues of common relevance.
Among the possible areas of cooperation mentioned during the conference were agriculture, fishing, the oil and gas industry, renewable energy, humanitarian projects, and education. Both sides underlined the need of keeping mutually beneficial contacts and sharing knowledge in the stated fields.
In the framework of a joint news conference, Minister Bayramov noted that ever since diplomatic relations were established twenty years ago—especially in the most recent years—increasing communication between Azerbaijan and Somalia has been crucial in the process of investigating possible cooperation. In line with the agreement on political dialogues reached between the two countries, he gave great weight on the importance of these channels in fostering cooperation.
