Mercy Aigbe took home the Best Supporting Actress honors for her amazing role in Farmer’s Bride at the merciless 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) in Lagos, Nigeria. Clearly, the award speaks to her range and staying power in Nollywood.
Farmer’s Bride, a film that received many nominations, put Aigbe at the center of a play that impacted viewers along with critics. Aigbe made a terrific impression to take away the win against a strong mix of contenders Init Dima-Okojie (Skeleton Coast), Tina Mba (Suspicion) and Ireti Doyle (All’s Fair in Love).
Aigbe’s career in entertainment has lasted more than twenty years and she has experience in Yoruba-language films and has transitioned into cinema production. Her recent production, Ada Omo Daddy not only received good reviews but also made over NGN 180 million at the box office and was the third highest-grossing Nigerian film of the year.
Aigbe thanked her fans, colleagues and family. In an instagram post she wrote that “ This achievement isn’t just mine, it’s a testament to the power of perseverance, consistency, hardwork & the incredible people that surrounds me!!!TO GOD BE THE GLORY. The AMVCA 2025 event recognized excellence in African cinema and television with Seven Doors, Lisabi: The Uprising and Skeleton Coast leading the way with the most nominations. Aigbe’s victory adds to the excitement of the night, showcasing the abundance of talented individuals in the industry.
