Meta Platforms, Inc., which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has announced plans to incorporate generative artificial intelligence (AI) into its platforms Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger.
Mark Zuckerberg, Chief Executive Officer of Meta, has expressed willingness to incorporate AI into every single one of Meta’s products. He also talked about the inclusion of AI “agents” in WhatsApp and Messenger.
Recently, Mark held an all-hands meeting with Meta employees. During the meeting, he reportedly discussed plans to implement AI text, image, and video generators into photo-sharing app Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. According to reports, Meta has started developing AI photo editing for the photo-sharing popular app Instagram. With the new feature, social media users can seamlessly share the edited images to their Instagram Stories. Mark also aims to create post-creation tools for the popular Meta app Facebook, encompassing regular Facebook users and advertisers. AI-powered chatbots can also be added to Messenger and WhatsApp.
During the meeting, Meta executives also shared their ideas to incorporate AI models into the metaverse. They also expressed their willingness to encourage AI project development.
During the meeting, Meta employees did not discuss concerns raised by Senators Richard Blumenthal and Josh Hawley about the potential misuse of Meta’s LLaMA language model.
With the integration of generative AI across Meta products, the company aims to advance in the field and stay at the forefront of technological innovations like Google and Microsoft.
Generative AI allows social media users to create various types of content using AI algorithms. Various AI tools like Dall-E, ChatGPT, and Midjourney have become popular in recent months.
Earlier, the social media company Meta informed its employees about new work policies, requiring them to work in the office three days a week starting this September.
