MohBad’s death : Police arrests Primeboy and four others

The Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter MohBad was killed on 12 September 2023. His death sparked outrage across Nigeria and the Nollywood industry.

Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known professionally as MohBad, died mysteriously last month. Fans speculated many theories behind his death.

The authorities have arrested five suspects so far in connection with the death of the singer. According to the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, the police have arrested Owodunni Ibrahim Primeboy, Naira Marley, Sam Larry and two others.

Why is Primeboy arrested over Mohbad’s death?

Primeboy is the childhood friend of MohBad. He was declared wanted by the Nigerian Police force over MohBad’s death. The police arrested him for interrogation. However, Primeboy said he was never invited to the police station for questioning. He also denied any kind of involvement in MohBad’s death. 

Fans said on social media that Mohbad and Primeboy had a fight before the death of the Nigerian singer. However, Primeboy said they were on good terms before he died in September.

Naira Marley, a famous Nigerian singer and songwriter, was also arrested for interrogation. Fans said that Naira Marley was responsible for Mohbad’s death. Previously, Mohbad was signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records. However, he left the record label last year. 

On social media, fans said that Naira Marley continuously attacked Mohbad. It was the reason behind Mohbad leaving the record label.

Why is Sam Larry arrested over Mohbad’s death?

Samsom Erinfolami Balogun, popularly known as Sam Larry, was also arrested for interrogation on Mohbad’s death. An old video had surfaced on social media after Mohbad’s death. In the video, a group of people led by Sam Larry were seen assaulting the late singer Mohbad. Sam Larry denied all the allegations and said that he loved Mohbad like a brother. He said, “I can’t kill Mohbad.” 

Last month, people gathered at the Okeletu bus-stop, Ikorodu, a city in Lagos State, to protest against the killing of the late singer. They urged the Nigerian government to arrest Naira Marley and Sam Larry over the singer’s death.
