NEWS: Dry Spell Compromises Crops In Morocco

There has been somewhat of drought in Morocco has trees has started to die due to lack of water the country. This Drought has affected Agriculture massively and if care isn’t taken all annual and perennial crops might die.

The area has been battling with awful dry spells for as long as three years and the neighborhood dam has run practically dry.

“A ton of ranchers halted their exercises after the water was cut off by the dam,” said Ahmed Driouch, a Moroccan rancher. “All the harvests had evaporated, the beans, the clementines, every one of them evaporated.”

The agriculture sector is one of the biggest sector in Morroco. The annual income generated is about 30% of the national budget. The question on everybody’s mind is how will Morroco deal with this crisis in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic.
