Nigeria: Police Kill 7 Suspected Armed Robbers

The Police in Makurdi have killed seven notorious armed criminals on the Makurdi -Lafia Road.

The incident occurred yesterday when the Police highway team trailed a group of armed men dressed in soldier uniform on the road and robbing commuters.

The criminals were identified by the police as the criminals who attacked the police check point on 4/6/2020 at Lafia-Makurdi Road that led to the death of Inspector Boniface Odeh and the loss of an AK47 rifle.

A team of police officers were detailed to trail the armed robbers terrorising commuters on the road,” Said Benue Police PRO Sewuese Anene

“While on the trail, information was received on 12/6/2020 at about 0440hrs that armed robbers were operating at the same road. The team of police officers swiftly moved to the scene and met the hoodlums dressed in military camouflage and police uniforms.

They engaged the police in a gun duel that lasted for about 20 minutes. In the process, seven (7) of the armed robbers sustained various degrees of bullet wounds and were rushed to Benue State University Teaching Hospital where they eventually died and their corpses have been deposited at the morgue for autopsy,” he said.

Anene said Items recovered from the criminals includes: the missing AK47 rifle, one other AK47 rifle loaded with twenty-one live ammunition, one locally made pistol with two cartridges, two den guns, four (4) touch lights, four (4) machetes, nine (9) cell phones and assorted charms.

The police warned criminals to desist from their evil ways or face the full wrath of the law..
