NTSA has suspended nine matatu saccos for failing to operate a minimum of 30 serviceable vehicles.
In a statement on Monday, NTSA director general
Francis Meja, said Section 5(1) of the National Transport and Safety Authority regulations require a PSV sacco or company to operate a minimum of 30 serviceable motor vehicles.
The suspension of the saccos was effected on Thursday and Friday.
City Tram company for Bus Station-Tom Mboya-Jogoo Road- Buruburu- Outering- Umoja- Innercore- Kangundo Road route was suspended on Thursday.
Others suspended on Thursday include;
Mwamba Sacco for Komarock-Jogoo Road- Mfangano Street route.
Marvellous Travellers for Komarock-Savanna-Jogoo Road- Eastleigh-Mfangano Street route
MNGN Sacco for Mathare North-Ngara-Gikomba route.
The saccos suspended on Friday include Fig Komba sacco for Dandora-Juja Road-Gikomba route.
Others include Moonlight Coach Company for Commercial-Thika Road-Mathare North route.
Mwirona Sacco of Bus Station-Thikaroad, Kasarani- Mwiki route.
Huruma Mini Bus of Huruma-Pangani- Kariokor-Tursker route,and Transafaris of Nairobi-Nakuru- Kisumu-Busia route.
Members of the Public have been advised not to board any vehicles belonging to these saccos to avoid any inconveniences.
The traffic department has been advised to impound any vehicles belonging to the nine found operating contrary to the suspension.
