Pope Francis, the first Latin American pope of the Roman Catholic Church, passed away in the morning of his 88th birthday after celebrating Easter Sunday. After recovering from pneumonia in March 23 the Pope passed away at 7:35 AM (0535 GMT) on March 31. After Holy Week started Pope Francis let cardinals run church duties because of his first absence since taking office in 2013.
In his last speech, Pope Francis urged people to support religious liberty alongside the fundamental rights of thought, sharing, and expression, alongside the embrace of various opinions. He criticized anti-Semitism that worried him and spoke strongly about Gaza’s poor conditions.
Most recently, in the year 1903, Pope Francis chose to live outside his official Vatican residence, changing the traditional way popes had lived.
