President Buhari rename Abuja stadium after MKO Abiola

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has named the Abuja National Stadium after MKO Abiola, who won the 1993 general elections in the country, but the result was annulled by the military government.
Buhari announced this in his speech today, June 12, which has now been set aside by the Nigerian government as the country’s Democracy Day.
The Abuja stadium was specially built by the past president Olusegun Obasanjo for the 2003 All Africa Games hosted by Nigeria.
It has a capacity of 45,000 and has hosted several top tournaments including the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup.
