Jumia, the leading pan-African e-commerce platform, and realme, the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand, have joined forces to boost smartphone adoption across Africa. Jumia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with realme that would provide millions of consumers in Africa access to innovative and affordable smartphones.
With this agreement, realme will have an official store on Jumia that would connect it with online consumers across 11 African countries. The expansion of smartphones will start in Nigeria. It will gradually expand to Kenya, Ghana, Ivory Coast and other African countries.
Sandeep Narayanan, vice president for consumer electronics at Jumia, reportedly said, “We are delighted to begin exploring how we might offer our platform to realme and provide it with the opportunity to grow and access the African market.”
Sandeep Narayanan further said that both companies share the same values. Realme reportedly wants to provide Jumia’s consumer’s access to best-in-class and affordable smartphones.
Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the world’s fastest-growing mobile regions. Jumia Vice President also said, “Millions of African mobile users use a smartphone to access Jumia for their everyday needs.”
According to research by GSMA Mobile Economy, Africa is one of the fastest-growing regions in the global mobile and app market. Reportedly, 615 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa will subscribe to mobile services by 2025.
