The Public Holidays Act establishes the twelve public holidays in South Africa. According to the Act, if a public holiday comes on a Sunday, the Monday that follows will also be a public holiday.
The ecclesiastical moon is used to calculate the dates of Good Friday and Easter Sunday so the dates may change in future. They fall somewhere between late March and late April however that varies every year.
Freedom Day which falls on a Sunday in 2025 is celebrated as a public holiday on Monday, April 28th.
