UAE Deepens Lifeline to Sudan in Aid Amid Ongoing Conflict

UAE Deepens Lifeline to Sudan: A Decade of Relief, Support and Hope Amid Conflict

For over ten years, the United Arab Emirates has stood by Sudan as one of its most reliable humanitarian partners. When conflict tore through Sudan in 2023, the UAE didn’t just show up—it stepped up, launching one of the world’s largest relief operations for Sudanese civilians, refugees, and aid workers. The numbers involved are huge, but what really matters is the difference this help makes in real lives.

A Decade—and $4 Billion—of Support

Since 2014, the UAE has poured nearly $4 billion into Sudan. That’s not just a figure on a spreadsheet; it’s proof of the deep political, economic, and social bonds between the countries. Over the years, UAE-backed projects have helped Sudan build better roads, set up factories, and boost trade, even before the latest crisis.

When War Broke Out, Aid Ramped Up

The fighting in 2023 pushed Sudan into one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters almost overnight. The UAE responded fast, ramping up emergency aid to over $700 million in less than two years. At the 2025 International Humanitarian Conference, UAE leaders pledged another $200 million. Half of that new pledge—$100 million—goes straight to El Fasher and North Darfur for food and medical care.
