UAE’s Commitment to Sudanese People
By participating in the International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan in Paris, France, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Sudanese people. His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, represented the UAE at the conference, where discussions focused on advancing peace initiatives and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Sudan. During the conference, the UAE pledged USD 100 million to support humanitarian efforts in Sudan and its neighbouring countries, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to providing aid and assistance to those in need.
Promoting peace and humanitarian aid
In his speech, HE Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan praised the UAE’s extensive efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and emphasised the importance of international collaboration in resolving the conflict. The UAE reiterated its call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and urged a return to the political process to find a peaceful solution to the crisis. Additionally, the UAE highlighted its ongoing humanitarian efforts, including the establishment of a comprehensive field hospital in Abéché city, Republic of Chad, to support Sudanese refugees. With a total contribution of USD 150 million in relief aid, the UAE continues to prioritise humanitarian assistance to Sudan and neighbouring countries.
