UAE Reaffirms Commitment to Combating Racial Discrimination on the Global Stage

The United Arab Emirates remains at the forefront in advancing equality and fighting racial discrimination by taking proactive legal and institutional action in the task. The UAE also strengthens its transparency, accountability and international human rights compliance by presenting its periodic national report to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD). The report portrays the commitment of the country to the creation of a tolerant, inclusive society where diversity is in full blast and equal rights are guarded. This commitment will be in line with the overall vision of the UAE in promoting international peace, mutual respect and harmonious relations among the various communities.

International Compliance and Transparency

This submission to the UN CERD highlights the fact that the UAE is in compliance with the international conventions of human rights and that it is keen on ensuring transparency in its governance. This regular reporting indicates the willingness of the country to face the international assessment and the fact that the country is moving towards the international human rights standards. In such a way, the UAE shows accountability and transparency, underlining that equality and fairness are the core elements of the state development program.

Active Measures to Promote Equality and Inclusion

UAE has introduced robust anti-discrimination legislation and public campaigns to discourage ethnic and racial intolerance. Its policy of anti-hate speech, its campaigns for equality, as well as social cohesion policy, have all been formulated to reflect respect between all communities. These reforms strengthen the social fabric of UAE and promote national unity by promoting peaceful coexistence as well as equality of opportunities. Besides this, the UAE can be said to engage in multilateralism and cooperate with other international bodies in the promotion of human rights given that it actively participates in the affairs of the United Nations and other international bodies.
