According to the police, several individuals were apprehended in the area, and one was shot dead as he allegedly attempted to flee by jumping off a police pick-up truck. On Monday, police announced that they had arrested 48 people in connection with two separate explosives, one of which was allegedly carried out by a suicide bomber aboard a bus traveling to the country’s west.
The government suspects the Allied Democratic Forces, a militant group headquartered in the Democratic Republic of Congo, for the October explosives (ADF). The ADF refers to themselves as the Islamic State’s Central Africa Province branch. The Ugandan police announced last month that the ADF had been training and recruiting within the country and that their sleeper cells had begun operating around August of this year.
