Super Eagles are among the 10 top-seeded teams for next month’s 2022 World Cup qualifying draw after they finished among the top 10 countries by the latest FIFA Rankings.
Genort Rohr men were non-movers as they ended 2019 third-ranked team in Africa behind the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation runners up Senegal and number one in the continent and Tunisia who lost in the third-place match to Nigeria last summer in Egypt.
The Super Eagles will thus avoid such other African heavyweights as Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and bitterest rivals, Ghana and Cameroon.
Since their FIFA World Cup debut in 1994, Nigeria have qualified for six of the last seven FIFA World Cups, missing only the 2006 edition and have reached the Round-of-16 three times but the three-time Africa Champions can draw Zambia for the second consecutive time after edging the Chipolopolo in the race to the Russia 2018 World Cup.
