The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the tenth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, will be contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. Spain are the defending champions, the team won their first title in 2023.
In March 2023, FIFA launched the bidding process for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. In 2024, FIFA will organize on-site inspection visits to bidding countries. In May 2024, the FIFA Congress will decide the host of 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Earlier this year, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, United States, and South Africa expressed their interest in hosting the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. However, on 24 November, South Africa announced it was withdrawing from the race to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
The South African Football Association (SAFA), the national administrative governing body that controls the sport of football in South Africa, said on Friday that South Africa withdrew their bid to host the Women’s World Cup in 2027
Lydia Monyepao, SAFA CEO, said, “We felt that it was better to present a well-prepared bid for the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup and ensure we put our best foot forward, rather than producing a rushed presentation.”
South Africa will not host the 2027 Women’s World Cup. South Africa will now focus on submitting a bid for the 2031 tournament.
Australia and New Zealand held the 2023 tournament.
The SA Football Association withdrew its bid to host 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup without giving any proper information.
Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands have submitted a joint expression of interest to host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The United States and Mexico also submitted a joint expression of interest to host the tournament.
The qualifying process for the tournament has not started yet. The final bids will be submitted in December 2023. FIFA is yet to announce the exact dates for the tournament.
