The CEO of Eskom, Andre de Ruyter has warned of a continued crisis in the utility power generation, this is due to the inability to generate power by the government of South Africa through independent producer.
Ruyter said about portion of the 11 800MW was not going to be accessible for the following 10 years as just 6 000MW in the Ministerial Determination was made of sustainable power.
He said the age limit of sustainable power should have been increased by the accessibility factor as the breeze didn’t generally blow and the sun didn’t generally sparkle.
“Before you truly began, of the 12 gigawatts that we have, about half won’t be accessible inside the following decade,” De Ruyter said.
