Puntland President Said AbdullahiDeni and Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed met with the Union of Opposition Candidates. The camp stayed by the presidents was visited by the union of candidates and talking about issues related to the controversial elections scheduled for the meeting.

The candidates’ union now has a great opportunity to discuss the disputed issues with regional administration leaders as the conference takes place in Mogadishu.

The conference comes at a time when the political situation in the country is tense and no lasting solution has been reached to the disputed election. Candidate leaders have reportedly been denied entry to the airport by security forces as the government has already refused to do so.

Reports say the meetings are part of a series of separate meetings the Presidents of Puntland and Jubbaland have held in Mogadishu since their arrival, listening to the suggestions and opinions of candidates and other political parties.

The meeting related electoral issues, tensions in the February 19 and the challenges in achieving a solution. The issue of the repression of candidates by Farmajo’s illegitimate government has been on the agenda several times due to the need for an open and non-coercive policy.

Nonetheless, the international community and Somali stakeholders have suggested holding unconditional and non-delayed elections, putting new political pressure on Farmajo. According to some reports, the international community is pushing for the transfer of power and elections to the Prime Minister. Roble which overturns Farmajo’s complicated policy of running the country illegally for more than a month.
