President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said that all political parties who contested in the 2018 harmonised elections are welcome to take part in the Political Parties Dialogue (POLAD).
Presenting his State of the Nation Address in Harare on Tuesday, Mnangagwa said:
_I am happy with the progress being made under the ongoing Political Parties Dialogue and stand ready to welcome all political parties who contested in the 2018 Harmonised Elections and are yet to be part of this forum._
The opposition MDC led by advocate Nelson Chamisa snubbed POLAD saying that it was a hopeless search for something unattainable.
There has been a standoff between Mnangagwa and Chamisa with the MDC insisting that it won the 2018 elections hence the need to include Mnangagwa’s legitimacy on the dialogue agenda if the dialogue is genuine. MDC also demands a foreign and independent convener.
On the other hand, ZANU PF is adamant that its candidate, Mnangagwa, won the presidential elections, therefore, it is not necessary to discuss his legitimacy.
