MultiChoice and NBCUniversal Back Showmax Africa with $145 Million

MultiChoice and NBCUniversal have given $145 million to support Showmax Africa. This money will help with running the business and growing it.

The money was shared between the two companies based on how much of Showmax Africa each one owns. They agreed to provide funds regularly to Showmax. The mode of fund transfer will be either every month or whenever needed.

Between September 27, 2024, and now, MultiChoice and NBCUniversal gave a total of $145 million. MultiChoice also added $800,000 more to cover its own shareholder costs.

The financial results of Showmax Africa were already included in MultiChoice’s yearly and half-year reports. These were shared earlier, in June and November 2024.

Because of the size of this investment, MultiChoice needed to make a public announcement, as per the rules of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).
