Top 10 African nations with largest crude oil production

Across the continent of Africa there are large deposits of crude oil. Hence crude oil is a major revenue earner for many countries in Africa. In 2021 alone, according to data by Statista, the proven crude oil reserves of the continent stood at 125.3 billion barrels. This data has been compiled after comparing the respective data from OPEC (Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries) and other data mining companies.

Here we have compiled a list of top 10 African countries with maximum crude oil production output in 2021.

  1. Nigeria

In 2021, this West African country was the largest producer of crude oil in the continent. The average daily production was 1.27 million barrels.

  1. Libya

The North African country of Libya produced average of 1.21 million barrels per day of crude oil.

  1. Angola

This oil rich African country produces an average of 1.11 million barrels of crude oil per day.

  1. Algeria

The North African country produces 959,000 barrels of crude oil per day on average.

  1. Egypt

Producing 559,000 barrels per day of crude oil, Egypt stands at number 5.

  1. Republic of Congo

The African country in 2021 produced an average of 253,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

  1. Gabon

Gabon produced 188,000 barrels of crude per day in 2021.

In 2021 this West African country recorded a daily average crude production of 176,000 barrels.

  1. Equatorial Guinea

This African country recorded a daily average production of 71,000 barrels of crude oil in 2021.
