Australia vs South Africa 2025 Series: Complete Squads, Fixtures, and New Faces to Watch 

Australia and South Africa are going to play an exciting white ball series from 10 to 24 August 2025 that contains three T20Is and three ODIs. The series will be played in three cities, Darwin, Cairns and Mackay for teams to better prepare with a tactical preview for the two sides ahead of their first ICC event.

Who’s Leading the Teams?

Australia:

Mitchell Marsh will lead both teams at T20I and ODI level while senior players Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc are managing their workloads as they are rested for the series.  

South Africa: 

Aiden Markram will captain the T20I squad and Temba Bavuma will captain the ODI team. Both players will return to their captaincy roles after recent rotation within squads.

Key Returns & Promising New Faces

Australia is welcoming the return of:

Travis Head whose left-handed aggression is expected to strengthen the top order.

Josh Hazlewood returns to provide experience and control to the pace bowling.

Matthew Short returns and Mitchell Owen earns his chance in an ODI after impressing everyone in the West Indies. 

South Africa has shaken up the squad with:

Exciting up-and-comers Dewald Brevis and Lhuan‑dre Pretorius reaping their rewards and earning their place in both formats of the game.

Spinning allrounder Prenelan Subrayen, who has recently debuted against India, has been added to provide South Africa greater spin variety in Australia.

Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi have been added into the fast bowling unit of South Africa.
