Privatisation seems to have been halted in Ethiopia Airline due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic that seem to have halted various financial sector in Africa.

Following a assessment of its Flag Carrier, Ethiopia has “temporarily” suspended plans to partly privatise Ethiopian Airlines.

The announcement was made by Minister of Finance Ahmed Shide. He said the airline employer has endured to generate tons needed foreign foreign money for the country amid the pandemic.

Ethiopian Airlines is one of the few to remain tremendously stable, largely due to a shift from passenger flights to cargo as countries closed their airspaces.

It changed 27 of its passenger planes into freight transportation.

Partially privatising Ehiopian Airlines used to be part of the financial reforms ushered in after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed came to energy in 2018.
