Davido in trouble: Warri Concert organizers to start legal battle

Nigerian singer Davido is currently in trouble. Warri Again Concert organizers are set to launch a legal battle against Davido. Victor Wokocha, the Project Director of Brownhill Events Inc., the organizers of the concert, have also slammed Davido for not performing at this year’s concert.

What happened to Davido? 

Davido did not perform at a concert in Warri, southern Nigeria, on 6 October, despite receiving full payment of $94,600. He received full payment in advance by Brownhill Events Inc but failed to honor the contract. 

Davido said that he informed the organizers a long time before the concert that he would not be available to perform at the show. The Nigerian singer said that he was confused because his name was used to publicize the event.

He apologized to his fans. He also promised to his fans to bring his concert to Delta State in Nigeria. Davido said, “I gotta bring Timeless to Delta State. We will do it properly, bigger and better !”

Is Davido in big trouble? 

The organizers of the Warri Again Concert said that Davido did not inform them of anything. A source close to the organizers said that they learned about Davido’s trip to Australia two days before the event. 

The organizers of the Warri Again Concert are ready to take legal action against Davido for breach of contract. The organizers pledged to utilize all legal options to get the refund from the Nigerian singer.

Victor Wokocha said in a statement, “Davido’s failure to perform at the concert despite having received full payment is quite unfortunate. Our legal team has been fully briefed and will advise on the next steps.”

Earlier this year, Davido’s ‘Timeless’ album became a super hit in Africa. Timeless album also broke all records across all five major streaming platforms in Nigeria. 

His album came a long time after the tragic loss of his son, Ifeanyi, who died in October 2022, drowning in a swimming pool at his residence.
