Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta – parent company of Facebook, Instagram and many other creations – said on Thursday that it has laid off 20 employees for leaking internal information to the media. This story has been first reported in The Verge.
Employees are offered periodic reminders that it is against the company’s policies to leak confidential information, no matter the intention, a Meta spokesperson noted. The company stressed the importance of addressing leaks.
More layoffs because of the same reason could be expected in the near future. The round of firings come after a series of reports based on meetings Zuckerberg is part of. In one meeting, the billionaire noted: “Everything I say leaks. It sucks.“
He also instructed employees to “buckle up” for the coming year. The CEO and US President Donald Trump have dined on multiple occasions, donated to the president’s inauguration fund and also eased up on content moderation.
