Super Eagles star John Obi Mikel has been offered a mouth-watering 18-month contract worth $2million by Brazilian club Botafogo according to reports by ESPN.
Jorge Nicola of ESPN, on his YouTube channel, revealed that the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club are offering the Nigerian star a huge amount worth more than what he earned at Turkish side Trabzonspor.
It was revealed that the amount exceeds $2million (about R $ 10.6 million) per 18 months contract.
However, it was gathered that the former Chelsea defensive midfielder is in negotiation with the club and has told them to add a little more.
The Brazilian club however maintain that they have reached the limit of what they can offer the player, but are optimistic that the 32-year-old will eventually sign.
Mikel is said to be tired of playing in Turkey and will neither consider a return to China, even in the midst of the suspended leagues across the world.
The former Lyn of Oslo midfielder is married to the Russian Olga Diyachenko, model who has paraded in Rio de Janeiro and loves the city, according to the reporter. Because of this, she would consider a move to Brazil.
Turkish League table-toppers Trabzonspor have labeled Nigerian star a ‘liar’ after his decision to quit his £5 million deal to be with his family.
The 32-year-old former Chelsea star slammed the Turkish FA following their refusal to suspend the Super Lig amid spread of coronavirus.
After his comment, the former Super Eagles midfielder was summoned by the Black Sea Storm president Ahmet Agaoglu who told him to take down his Instagram post.
But Chelsea legend insisted that he was ready to return home to his family and self-isolate to further reduce the spread of the virus.
