Niger: Presidential Election Heads For Run-off In February

The presidential election in Niger is set to head for a run off this due to the fact that no presidential candidate clinched the needed majority vote in the election. Mohammed Bazoum has been tipped by many political experts to win the elusive election.

The correct hand man of active president Mahamadou Issoufou, who was seeking after a one-contact triumph in the first round, will currently need to look for coalitions before the second round of surveys on February 20.

Citizen turnout was fixed at 69.67%, with 5.2 million electors out of 7.4 million enlisted electors for a populace of 23 million. These should be approved by the Constitutional Court.

Previous Prime Ministers Seini Oumarou was third , Albadé Abouba, fourth, acquiring 8.95% and 7.07% of the votes, in front of previous Foreign Minister Ibrahim Yacouba, fifth with 5.38% of the votes separately.
