Government has adjusted passport fees upwards in all categories.
The Internal Security Officer Kithur Kendeke said ordinary passports (34 pages) which used to cost Sh4,500 will now cost Sh7,500.
A regular passport (50 pages) will now cost Sh9,500 from Sh6,000 and a regular passport (66 pages) will cost Sh12,000 from Sh7,500.
In an official newspaper notice dated 7 November 2023, Minister of Home Affairs Kithur Kendeke said ordinary passports (34 pages) that used to cost Sh4,500 will now cost Sh7,500.
The regular passport (50 pages) will now cost Sh9,500 from Sh6,000 and the regular passport (66 pages) will cost Sh12,000 from Sh7,500.
50-page diplomatic passport will now cost Sh15,000 instead of Sh7,500
Those Kenyans looking to replace their lost passports will pay Sh20,00 from Sh12,000.
As for those seeking to replace a mutilated valid passport will now pay Sh20,000 from Sh10,000.
The move comes as the CS Interior is working to restore order in the immigration department. The CSO has stepped up its efforts to crack down on corruption in the immigration department following a public outcry over delays in processing travel documents.

The public outcry prompted parliament to summon him for an explanation, where he admitted that corruption was rampant in the immigration department but vowed to crack down on the gangs. Consequently, Kendeke launched the 30-day Rapid Results Initiative on 25 September 2023, which will see the ministry clear the backlog of passports.
