South Africa’s white-ball coach wants to welcome Faf du Plessis back

South Africa’s limited-overs coach Rob Walter has said that he is ready to welcome Faf du Plessis, former captain of South Africa, back to the South Africa national cricket team. 

Walter revealed that South Africa needs quality players like Du Plessis for a resurgence after the recent performance of the team. Walter talked about Du Plessis to the Rapport newspaper. He said that Du Plessis can return to play for shorter formats. Walter said that he was open to discussions with Du Plessis about playing for South Africa again. 

Walter reportedly said, “Faf has not retired yet. He is still playing very well in T20 cricket. He will build his future around T20 leagues.” He further added, “I would like to talk about the possibility of Faf playing for South Africa again.”

Du Plessis was not picked for South Africa’s team for their upcoming ODI (One Day International) series against England.

South Africa’s director of cricket, Enoch Nkwe, said, “Walter’s leadership is very strong and he is clear in his mind about how to move South African cricket forward.” Earlier, Walter coached the Titans and New Zealand’s Otago Volts.
