With talk that Absa Premiership clubs might need players from their MultiChoice Diski Challenge sides to assist in completing the season, Orlando Pirates is one of the clubs that would not struggle for players from their reserve side. The Buccaneers have no less than four youngsters who would be ready to step up to the first team as back-up.
During his press conference on Monday, PSL chairman Irvin Khoza said that clubs would have to use players from the MDC in line with the plans to finish the season, if for some reasons their key players are unavailable due Covid-19 related disruptions, among other issues.
In preparation for the resumption of the 2019/20 season, clubs have been testing their players and members of the technical, as the football fraternity waiting for the dates from the South African Football Association.
Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic are some of the clubs to have confirmed having respective COVID-19 cases since the deadly virus forced the PSL into a break in mid-March.
The Siya crew takes a look at four youngsters who could be ready to step up into Josef Zinnbauer’s team, should the Buccaneers see a need to pick from their reserve side to strengthen the team for the remainder of the season.
Sifiso Luthuli – The striker has been in top form and is Bucs’ MDC top goalscorer this season.
Simo and Simiso Bophela – The twins who play as a midfielder and striker respectively have been influential in creating and scoring goals for Bucs’ MDC team and their work-rate is phenomenal.
Kagiso Madisha – The midfielder has been dishing out fine performances and scoring goals for the young Buccaneers.
