It could be a case of second time lucky for one Bidvest Wits midfielder, after the Siya crew were informed of SuperSport United’s intention to re-sign the star man.
SuperSport are said to be keen on the services of Bidvest Wits midfielder Cole Alexander
It is public knowledge that the Tshwane outfit are in the market for a midfield hard man, following the departure of Dean Furman during the COVID-19-enforced break.
Alexander is one of the many Wits players in limbo, following the sale of the club to businessman Masala Mulaudzi, who has outlined his plans to rename and relocate the team to Venda upon the approval of the sale by the PSL.
Alexander’s contract with the Clever Boys was set to end on June 30. However, Wits took the decision to exercise the added option on his deal, keeping him at the club until, at least, June 30 2021.
Of course, the 30-year-old is no stranger to SuperSport, having spent time there during the 2017/18 campaign. Under Eric Tinkler, he struggled for game-time, making just seven appearances during an injury-ravaged season.
It’s understood that Kaitano Tembo has earmarked Alexander for a similar role to the one Furman previously occupied that would allow the attacking talent of Teboho Mokoena and Sipho Mbule to flourish.
